Throughout 2011, Bear River will be celebrating 400 years since the first vines in North America were planted here, in this gentle valley. In spring 1611, the famous apothecary Louis Hebert, took refuge from a storm at the Bear River Miq’ maq encampment. While here, Hebert discovered that this valley offered the perfect conditions for the planting of French grape vines. Today, award-winning wineries and spectacular vineyards still grace these hills. Especially this year, come immerse yourself. Walk in Louis Hebert’s footsteps on the shores of an ancient tidal river. Taste 400 years of Canadian history
