What To Do

Artisans & Galleries

Southwest Nova Scotia is home to many talented artisans, each as unique as the region’s distinctive lighthouses. You’ll find everything from appliquéd quilts to homespun sweaters, remarkable woodworking to functional pottery.

Our artists are inspired by the natural world around them, whether creating abstract paintings, realistic watercolours, or exuberant celebrations in silk. You can be sure to find that perfect treasure during your studio visits.

Experience Living History; visit an economuseum in Southwest Nova Scotia. These are working studios where you can share the passion of artisans at work celebrating their artistic heritage. Amos Pewter and Spruce Top Rug Hooking Studio of Mahone Bay are two recognized economuseums whose artisans welcome visitors to their working studio galleries.
