What To Do

Markets And Farms

Rolling hills, sweeping fields and vibrant orchards -take a journey through the bread basket of Nova Scotia and fill it with bountiful fresh produce, local wines, fine foods and lasting memories. Southwest Nova Scotia is the agricultural heartland of the province, and home to acres of orchards and fields of abundant crops.

Enjoy fresh local produce at the many farmers' markets throughout the region, or stop by a roadside stand along your way.  Enjoy the U-pick experience, picking everything from strawberries and wild flowers to blueberries, pears and pumpkins.  You can’t get any fresher than picked right from the vine or branch.

Pack a picnic lunch and hike to Blomidon, offering spectacular views of the area or build a bonfire on the beach and roast some marshmallows while experiencing the breathtaking Bay of Fundy or Southern coast.  Take a daytrip to Nova Scotia’s living museum of agriculture, Ross Farm Museum in New Ross and experience pioneer farming.
