Summer

Enjoy the warm air and cool ocean breezes of summer in Southwest Nova Scotia.

Surrounded by water, many of our activities take advantage of this bounty. Catch the wind on a harbour cruise, do a little deep-sea fishing or take in a whale watching tour or a trip on a lobster boat and learn how lobstermen catch those tasty crustaceans.

Perhaps you’re interested in canoeing or kayaking our bays, inlets and rivers, from the many islands of St. Margert’s Bay to the wonders of Kejimukujik National Park’s river system, to the challenges of the Bay of Fundy.

Diving is a popular pastime and our region boasts two artificial reefs. Pass the afternoon horseback riding or challenge yourself with a coastal hike or bike ride along our rugged shorelines and trails. Southwest Nova Scotia is home to the only skydiving school in the province if nothing else takes your breath away.

Explore the acres of glorious gardens the area offers and take in a bit shopping in our communities - home to many talented artisans. You’ll find everything from appliquéd quilts to homespun sweaters, remarkable woodworking to functional pottery. Our artists are inspired by the natural world around them.
